Yes, I know this story has been posted before, but I'm not sure if this CNN video tour / interview was posted. See the link below, endure a very short commercial before the story begins. Checkout his high end DD turntable and cartridge, and dust collect on the stylus as the LP spins. Obviously a music lover and not an audiophool. ;-)
CNN Money World -- Meet Zero Freitas, a Brazilian millionaire and avid vinyl collector who has amassed over 5 million unwanted LPs over the years ... more than anyone else in the world.

From the video , it's clear he has something else in mind than attempting to listen to them all...
Sure, but it's fun exercise calculating how many years it would take him to listen to them all.
I used to prowl a series of record shops after cd's started getting big; most notably a northwest chain called Golden Oldies. Bought many records for as little as 50 cents each. People were unloading them by the boxcars. Resellers had a steady market of low-end shoppers like me who knew full well that most of that music was not going to be rescribed into digits. Gone vinyl = gone music.
So now I have a large vinyl collection and most always listen to cd's. Duh.
You giving it away? :P

Too funny!
I have a large CD collection and most always listen to the computer/DAC. ;-)
Well, with all those albums, how the heck do you expect him to have enough money left over for a nice turntable?

Someone please help us out here...
Assumption #1; he doesn't work.
24 - 8 hours of sleep = 16
16 - 2 hours to fill and empty (eat/bathroom) = 14
Assumption #2; he hates the world, so does not travel, spend time with family, etc.
14 x 1.5 records per hour = 21 records per day.
5,000,000/21 = 238,095 days or 652 years.
If that was him in the movie, he better stop picking/looking through them and get started playing now!

And to think that audiophiles simply keep on playing a handful of the same LPs over and over again, like Patricia Barber's...
I was wondering about other 'human needs'.
I often enjoy an LP an eat at the same time...even been known to eliminate waste while the music plays. That gets me down to 507 years (but I only sleep 6 hours a day).
Thanks! for sharing. By my math somwhere in the neighborhood of 571 years.
