Hi folks,
I'm new to AA and this is my first post, so bear with me.
I'm moving from 2-channel audio and selling off my separates (adcom gfp-565 preamp, Rotel RB-981 amp, Martin Logan Scenario speakers) as I'm watching more movies these days.
I've been seduced by the price and reviews of the magnepan MMG and I'm trying to find an AV receiver to match them. I hear they are pretty power hungry....
My question is: will the NAD T748 (40 WPC with all channels driven) have enough power to make the MMG's perform well? I'm on a budget and would like to sell my Rotel amp, but could keep it if I need to bi-amp the NAD.
Thanks for any advice!

Many have used MMGs as home theater speakers to good effect. If you are looking at traditional receivers NAD is good because they handle 4 ohm loads well but you will need more power and that takes you into another territory price wise.
Check out Emotiva's offerings, specifically the XPA-5 amp mated to a UMC-200 7.1 AV preamp. This combo out-performs any traditional receiver at its combined price. If you can wait, they always have end of the year holiday sales that are compelling if not something sooner.
Z-
any receiver will not deliver enough 'juice' for those Maggies. They are power hungary.
But while we are at it no I don't think the NAD would be sufficient and certain you know what it's capable of at lower ohm loads.
Go to the Speaker Forum and you'll see the subset marker for Planar Forum up near the top of the page. That is where you should be posting this question.

Lots of guys with lots of experience over there.
