You seem to be overlooking the main reason he was there:
I buy a lot of headphones, and I was interested to hear some of the newer, more rare models that are usually impossible to try anywhere in person, such as the HE-560, Phonon SMB-02, and Audezes, and a couple of rare amps like the Auralic Taurus.
If you didn't catch my post below, the guy owns about $10,000 worth of headphones.
Checking out some portable models he might mention on his blog was only secondary. But that's the only thing that the clowns at the store could focus on. And even when he offered to do it in such a way that Stereo Exchange would get some free, exclusive publicity, their dinosaur knees kept jerking and they kicked him in the teeth instead of looking at as a marketing opportunity.
The people at Stereo Exchange are just a bunch of idiots trying to live in the 1980s.

He was there for two reasons 1.To listen to headphones and report on his blog about the headphones he couldn't listen to anywhere else, especially the online stores where he usually buys his headphones . and 2. buy headphones. Really?? Hmmm.
I'd be very curious as to where he bought those $10k worth of headphones. Mostly online?
"in such a way that Stereo Exchange would get some free, exclusive publicity"
I suspect that attitude is exactly what was conveyed... that he was in fact doing them a favor. Why cant these troglodytes understand what a huge service I am doing for them?
Marketing opportunity"
They have no control what he is going to say. He might just as well go online and dog them. Oh wait... he DID go online and dog them.
and 2. buy headphones. Really?? Hmmm.
No, to LISTEN to some headphones that he MIGHT buy. Jeezuz, can't you comprehend simple English?
I'd be very curious as to where he bought those $10k worth of headphones. Mostly online?
Quite likely, yes given that the number of brick and mortars that sell high end headphones I can probably count on one hand. Stereo Exchange only very recently opened up their "Headphone Lounge."

Yes, after they treated him like shit and kicked him out of their store.
No, they wouldn't have any control over what he might write, but is that any reason to treat everyone like a sworn enemy and give them ample reason to write unkind things about you?
"EVERYONE"? You know this? You are trying to promote this idea (for whatever reason), but what proof do you have that they've ever treated anyone (except maybe this one guy) in a bad or discourteous way? And I'm talking about what might be considered trustworthy "proof" in an instance like this, such as the testimony or corroborations of several people?
You are simply taking this guys word for everything, you have never visited the place yourself, you have never personally met or talked to anyone there. For all you now the guy you're defending has made up the entire story.
Well?

"EVERYONE"? You know this?
You misunderstand. If they're not to take him at his word as you suggest, then they can't very well take anyone else at their word. So it would follow that everyone be treated with the same suspicion and hostility.
No, it does not follow. This is you following YOU, that's all. Why should we make such an assumption? And why are YOU so interested in promoting this idea?Actually, you don't *know* any of this to be true, that much is obvious. Does anyone (except for Marco and the merchant) really *know* anything about this thing? No they do not.
It seems as if you've chosen to defend someone who you don't really know just because he's a member of the club that you've sworn allegiance to. You accuse someone whom you've never personally met, for reasons I don't even want to fathom. You show no real discretion, you don't bother to think things through because you'd rather jump to conclusions, and you promote possibilities instead of facts. Maliciousness defined.

He ends up saying that they had a point and you should buy where you try.
My knee jerk reaction based on some of the responses was to side with the store owners, but when I read what he actually wrote, he isn't scorching them so there isn't really a He vs. Them going on here.
Folks should read before posting.

Yeah, he admitted they had a point on the original concern, but when he said if he wrote anything, he would only mention Stereo Exchange, giving them a nice marketing opportunity, they kicked him in the teeth and showed him the door. They even treated him like shit when he wrote an email to apologize.

I was just expanding on the point you had made.
