not being in an auction be set by BlueBook value if not in brand new unused condition?
Auctions command crazy overpaying prices for gear that should go alot lower. But it's an Auction and if that what the bidder wants to pay just to have it then that's cool.
Follow Ups:
The BB is used by dealers and pawnshops to justify low trade in prices. Most of the data comes from......dealers and pawnshops reporting what they are offering to sellers. A seller who accepts BB value without having investigated the market for what they are selling deserves what they get.....On the other hand, I have found online pricing to be a fairly accurate gauge of FMV. Prices will vary somewhat, but excluding outlier values at the high and low extremes, most items sell for repeatable prices. In most cases, online FMV is higher, often much higher, than BB value.
In the past there were several online individuals who criticized anyone who deviated from BB pricing when buying or selling audio equipment. I put out a standing offer to pay BB value for a whole list of items. Never had any takers and the critics never responded to me.
Best, Ross

Where do you see an auction in what the op wrote?
it was in the other tread below refering to Agon and ebay. I should have put it there.
I was just refering to other sites that sellers use the Auction sites like ebay as the going market value to set their price on their used gear.
Shouldn't the Orion Bluebook be the reference for used gear? I know Agon had that tool for people selling gear there, don't know about it now.
