The system shouldn't matter. As an example, I can listen to "A Love Supreme" on a very low fidelity system and still appreciate it for the wonder that it is.
Granted, a better playback system can make for a better experience but, at least for myself, it isn't essential. Although it is, I admit, certainly desirable.

Yes, but it also humiliates it.
Yup.
"Granted, a better playback system can make for a better experience but, at least for myself, it isn't essential. Although it is, I admit, certainly desirable."I kind of agree with that.
My point is I might never appreciate "A Love Supreme" for the wonder that it is until I hear it on a high fidelity system. I guess at that point it might work for me in the car.
I enjoy much more new music using a good musical stereo than a low fidelity one. Additionally it makes no sense to me when people claim recordings sound good on a car or boombox yet bad on a high quality system - I believe them but it makes no sense they would own such a high quality system.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
