It's an interesting journey. Your words and observations are appreciated.
I'll continue to give updates.
My hearing drops off pretty severely at 3000Hz (60db).

El Monte. The "free" freezing/slow defrost technique I described to you was given most sincerely. It is important to have as near a normal (natural) sound (from hearing aids) as is possible.
I would still encourage you to try the technique. Nothing will be lost and quite a bit could be gained !!

Hi May,
Out of curiosity do you happen to know if using primary cells in digital hearing aids "sound the same" as rechargeables?
Hopefully I'll never need 'aids' but my wife recently got ONE. She has always had a weak ear and even though, based on her measurements, the audiologist felt that she was a very poor candidate for hearing aids, she programmed one up and let her wander through the store (Costco, a big box chain). It was love at first listen. She has now had one for a couple of months and I simply can't believe how well it works since most folks I know with them seem to constantly fight 'em. It has improved my life also, apparently being able to converse without repeating or yelling smooths out relationships... It's a digital, on top of the ear type and I wouldn't expect the cell technology to matter much and so far she has only used a primary cell once and it apparently worked the same. But I vaguely think that you guys used to work with these critters but I don't know in which epoch.
Regards, Rick
Hello Rick.

Yes, Rick, you are correct.
As far as I am aware, re-chargeable batteries for hearing aids should 'take' the described treatment as well as others. You will obviously understand that it is the person wearing the hearing aid who can tell if the technique I described gives them an improvement in the sound !! They are the ones doing the experiencing.
It is so easy to try the technique on primary batteries initially and then, if successful in that person's opinion, then to go on to try 'treating' re-chargeable batteries. All batteries for hearing aids are relatively inexpensive to experiment with !!
Very many people who use a hearing aid for the first time are SO pleased at having some degree of increased hearing again that they will often accept the 'sound' they provide as "that is it, that is what is available, accept it".
I responded to El Monte because some of the sentences he used, some of the way he described what he was hearing, I recognised as some problems which others have reported with hearing aids.
As in :-

I miss a sense of ambiance, fullness. I don't here the room. Still evaluating the trade offs, and I'm sure there are many" < < <
The technique I described is SO easy to try, Rick.

Thanks May, I'll keep it in mind. I don't want to rock the boat just now but it would be interesting to try and indeed easy. Next time I order parts I'll see if I can pick up a couple of cells cheaply and have them on hand awaiting a good opportunity.
Regards, Rick
