I'm exhibiting at the Aug. 9 Head-Fi meet in Los Angeles, and I want to create a vertical banner (like four feet high and 2 feet wide) and hang it from a stand... what would this kind of stand be called, and where can I get one?

...a flagpole.
Basically, you need a slim (telescopic?) vertical stand with a small footprint. Something like a tall lighting stand, perhaps?I'm not exactly sure how to source a stand such as this but I might look wherever lamps and lighting hardware are sold.
Garden supply stores, too. There are tall things for sale in the garden catalog.

... A Vertical Banner Stand.
I have no idea what your budget is.
However, try Vistaprint. I have had good dealings with them here in Australia and in Europe.
I'm sure they will be in Yanksville.
Good luck.

Those are cool but far larger than I need and I don't need the roll-up feature, making the whole thing a lot more expensive than a simple stand.
Then check out FedEx Office.
I have no trouble printing the banner and equipping it with eyelets to suspend it from something... it's the "something" to suspend it from I need. Are you saying Fedex Office sells these stands?
You can get stands only from PostUp Stands.
I see, yes, that looks like my answer, the X stand from PostUp. Thanks!
Great! Good luck at the show!
Perhaps a flip chart easel will work.

I don't think there is enough room behind the tables for a wide footprint like that.
