Hello,
I inquired sometime ago about the next "easy" step from the paint-by-numbers kit building and got many very useful information. Easy is the keyword here as I my electronics knowledge does not match my enthusiasm.
However, projects I was suggested to check out failed before they started because I am on the wrong side of the ocean, in Europe.
Is there a DIY tube amp project that I can source almost everything, at least transformers etc big items, from Europe.
I am not after amazing sound, I want to learn, and possibly, repeat as I was advised I will probably repeat it.
Sorry about the long mail and thanks for reading,
Zuheyr

Thank you all. I really mean the most these two words can mean.
Audio Asylum is a very unique place and I really feel happy and privileged to be a part of this community.
Thank you for your time.
I've posted a 2A3 project that might be of interest to you.
When you say you want to source it from Europe, there are plenty of firms in Europe selling the basic parts for this amp (cases, resistors, caps, wire, switches, etc.). Also, both Mouser and Digikey sell on EU-country specific sites, with VAT included. The outputs transformers specs are pretty standard and there are also any number (a few) of quality transformer producers in the EU. But you might just save yourself by buying some Hammond OPTs from the US and paying the VAT. Magnequests, another US brand, are better and more money. The basic board is made in the US.
Tubelab has a number of SE and PP projects to select from. They sound better than they look in the pictures.

Go to Diyaudio.com and scroll down to the Tubelab site. Lots of folks world-wide building. I love my Simple SE. Matches my Simple talents.
They also have a page over on DIY Audio.

OMG... beautiful. Thank you. I really will look into this. Many thanks!
Don't worry, I am sure there are good options. ;)
In the UK there is the Hi-Fi Collective with their Glasshouse and Audio Note kits. Mind you, they're not cheap.http://www.hificollective.co.uk/kitshome.html
In the USA there's Bottlehead with their very highly regarded kits. I think they can be supplied with a 240 volt transformer suitable for use in Europe.

Yes I know HiFI Collective, they no longer have the Glasshouse kits.
And, yes I did the whole line of AN Kits, that used to be glorious but not anymore, for me.
But I had heard about Bottlehead, sure, but forgotten. I will check their kits.
Thank you so very much!
.
Great! Thank you. I am at work, cannot study much but looks great! Thank you!
