Always trust your senses above all else.
You can put together the perfect system based on trusting your ears. Trying to do the same thing using only specifications is nigh-on impossible (if sound quality matters at all that is).

Hi and thanks a lot
I think i have focused better the problem ... digital sources
Not that easy to find one musical
Amplification devices are less critical with analog from what i ear
From an Lp is always music .. not so with cds
Kind regards,
bg
Musicality can be found in digital, but it is very hard to find. Have a look on ebay for a DAC made by Lite Audio called the DAC 60. It has a TDM 1704 chip in it which is the magic occurs inside this DAC. It has tubes as well, but the TDM 1704 is where everything turns into something sounding amazing from a digital source.
I have had mine for nearly eight years now, and I have yet to hear a DAC which has anywhere near the same musicality, warmth, and instrument separation. It is easily the longest standing piece of equipment I have owned in the last 30 years.
They go for about $650.00
Hi and thanks a lot for the valuable suggestion
I found it and it is very nice actually
I spot tubes inside ... many people say that tubes have a magic touch with digital
By the way you mean "PCM 1704" ?
Because i read
" DAC60 chip use famous PCM1704, at the same level of world's top DAC "
So is the magic in this chip ?
Thanks a lot again.
Kind regards,

Its a good DAC for the DAC chip and for the analog output, which uses no opamps or transistors at all.
Thanks again for the valuable advice
I read something about op-amps
The first thing that hits me is the huge open loop gain
But i feel than in a phono preamp this could be useful
I would like to listen a phono preamp powered by batteries ... i am curious about Sutherland Engineering preamps for instance
For the output stage actually the use of opamps looks a little strange
Very good output stages can be made out of discretes i guess
Lately i have discovered LTSpice and i am playing with it
It is impressive, at least on the paper, how even very textbook circuits can give very good performance selecting the right working conditions
I have ordered some breadboards ... i am curious
Thanks again
Kind regards,
bg
Op-amps?? Yuck. IME they almost never sound good. They require a ton of feedback just to work properly and they are often a dozen or more transistors in a package. No thanks, I will stick with tubes in my phonostage.
Hope they were not 300Bs
Save the bees.
