With existing hardware and software one is talking about multiple hours of work per LP to produce a clean digital transfer ...
I haven't invested the time to digitize my vinyl library. The CD based ripping process was relatively quick (about three long weeks) by comparison.
I'm not willing to break a side's worth of capture into individual tracks and manually provide tagging data for 600 odd records (and mine is a modest library) - much less attempt to fix the signal!
Follow Ups:
Unless you're a lazy slug like me. What has it been now 18 months since I got my SB III? I don't have but about 10% done yet. Finally a couple of months ago I figured out that I should take all my CD's of their racks in the listening room and put them in boxes by rip priority where the PC is with the library. Ain't done that yet either. I had so much free time in 2013 too.

grabbing a CD and popping it into a player. I also can't make the logic work that adding another layer possibly can equal the original.
At any rate, I bet for some guys here, getting up to change CDs is the athletic event of the day...
the benefits are well worth it. I cannot fully convey to you how convenient it is to never have to schlep a CD around multiple systems in order to hear it.
My entire digital library (including a fair number of hi-rez downloads and some MP3s) is available upstairs in the main system, in the garage, in the office, in the bedroom (via iPeng running on an iPad) or pretty much anywhere in the yard via iPeng running on an iPhone via 802.11N WiFi.
One library available across all systems. Controllable using smart phone and tablet based remotes.
I don't even listen to CD's anymore so I can only listen to that small (10% or so) portion of my collection. Of course I was careful to rip my favorite 10% first. No excuse, I know. At least I made the next planning step so all the CD's are next to the PC that rips them. I will have them all boxed in that room with the server by the end of the weekend. I still need to by the USB raid drive(s) to have the storage required.
That brings me to a USB question. This PC which has never even glitched and has worked perfect is an old P4 2.67G w/XP. I'm guessing its USB one or two. Is this a concern when getting the USB external drive for the system? I'm sure in a year or two I'll get an old 7 tower free or cheap that better and faster. Thanks in advance.

USB drives are backwards compatible.
True RAID operation, however, requires a compatible controller that manages the volume(s). The four year old Dell desktop I use has an Intel motherboard with RAID capability built in.
Just make sure you back up the data!

"Bite the Bullet"
Removing the single disk, single system, limited playing time restrictions is enjoyed by many.
To each his own.
Agree..worth the effort. It is a very daunting task at first...but keep your head down and it gets pretty easy once you are in a rhythm. Once you get the original library done, batch processing every time you get a few new CDs piled up is quite painless.
The benefits of going this route are incredible in terms of convenience, and with a good setup, sound too.
