The only folks who think her last two albums were "fiascos" are men old enough to be her father and want her to make Come Away 6 times so they can delight guests with how good their system sounds on female vocals.
The rest of us have gone along for the ride. Little Broken Hearts is a masterwork.
Follow Ups:
come away with me was a fine initial release but the following few were half hearted in feel and execution. but with 'Little Broken Hearts' she hit her own stride. BRAVO for that one.
i see no reason to oppose the idea that the albums that followed 'come away with me' were lackluster and every reason to shout HURRAH for 'hearts'. and it's nothing to do with being mean spirited. it's good to see that norah is no longer treading water not of her choosing.
another album that has an everly bros feel is raising sand by plant/krause. what a surprise that one was.

wake up Tom! of course i meant years but i bet her rear is as nice as the rest of what we have seen.

Interesting take. I don't think she was ever treading water...
What a lot of folks may have missed is that when she was playing clubs in NYC, where I saw here two years before she got signed, she was playing a lot of country rock, pop, and even punk. There was very little "jazz". WFUV started playing her demo tape, which I have a copy of, and Blue Note decided to mold her a bit into a chanteuse.
Several of her side projects allow her true spirit to come through, like El Madmo, and The Little Willies.
Can't think of another song that made me think the artist might actually, really be contemplating murder. Very scary, very well done.Foreverly is a great listen, Long Time Gone is wonderful.

Yeh, that song is pretty creepy and convincing...even my wife took note...
Sprezza Tura....so it seems we have different tastes in music...but why do you have to be such an ass??

Yes, twice. New York and LA. She did an extensive tour after the release of the album in 2012. I have seen her on every tour since the release of the first album. She is a charmer. :)
Although I have not seen her in person I have watched numerous concert DVD's, guest appearances and assorted TV broadcasts of her shows. All have been remarkable and show her considerable talents in a variety of genres. One of my favs in her rendition of Time Slips Away from the Willie nelson 80th birthday party. I think Willie almost cried listening to her bring that classic to life. Also, the first Little Willies is a delight. Hope to see her live some day.
Agree about that performance...she keeps, interesting company....Danger Mouse and Willie Nelson!
