that talk, text and otherwise feel it's OK to "party" during a performance.
WTF they think that's acceptable is way out of my sense of understanding.
I'll take sour notes, botched lyrics and any other non perfection that can transpire
from talented artists in a live performance over obnoxious audience members any day.
Chances are the artist will redeem themselves later in the performance (or did beforehand)
and if most of the performance is good or better, then THAT'S alright.
IF there's a perfect musical moment or two (and there usually is) that's the beauty of being there now.
To paraphrase Mr. Churchill - the obnoxious jackass audience member will STILL be an obnoxious jackass the next day.
And hell, I thought BB King was old (and completely wonderful) when I saw him live for the first time 38 years ago!

Obtuse is the first word that comes to mind. I feel kind of sorry for a shmuk who would go to a concert by someone 90 years old and not have a clue that the guy might be feeling his age at any time. Some day maybe 10 or 20 years from now when he realizes how really good they were the heckler's memory will be of him heckling two of greatest ever and all he'll be able to do is look in a mirror and say what a douche nozzle.
Doc Watson comes to mind. We probably saw him live 10-12 times. After his son Merle was killed my wife and I saw him play about every three years or so. We thought his playing went downhill for about 15 years but understood that grief and aging take quite a toll. He then seemed to get better and better. The last time we heard him play we both thought it one of his best ever and he would have been in his late 80's. You just don't know how it's going to go for sure.
and "douche nozzle"?
That's one to remember for future reference!
