How do you find an inmate's username when they respond to a classified? The system sends an automated message that starts with:
Audio Asylum Trader Inquiry from "name":
Searching for "name" doesn't turn up an inmate.
Thank you in advance!

click on "Leave Feedback" at the top, which will bring you to Inmate Search. Enter username & check box as seller. That will take you to either sign in or next link where you can click on their username at top of page.
It's a round-a-bout way to get the info but the only way I've found so far.
...the user name is included in the eMail that is sent to the seller informing them of the offer.
So yeah, you can look up other members, but you don't know what member made an offer.
Unles they changed it since I sold my last item.
I looked up the info just the way I posted.
I received messages from several different people interested in a classified. When I asked what their Asylum name was, they didn't have one. They said they were able to send a message without being registered at AA. In my opinion, this is a huge problem. I want to be able to look people up and see some kind of history... even if the only piece of information is the date they became a member.
Rod, how difficult would it be to make membership a requirement for interacting in the classifieds? I'm sorry to make more work for you, but I think a number of people would like to see this change. It will make the classifieds more community-oriented rather than a free-for-all.
Thank you,
Mark
The email responses do need some work. If the user is a member and logged in, we should provide a link to their profile. If they aren't a registered user, then it begs the question as to whether we should require registration to respond to an ad or not.
Our thought process was that you'd want to get any and all inquiries regardless of registration status. Requiring registration adds another hurdle for some folks. OTOH, are unregistered folks good prospects for sales? I'd like to get some feedback from folks on that question before we require registration to send an inquiry to an ad.

I posted this question in the Support and Feedback forum months ago. Answer is you cannot, or at least that was the answer then.
I think it's a real problem for sellers because a seller certainly wants to look up a potential buyer.
Sebrof, thank you for the heads up. I absolutely agree with you. It would be really helpful to have that info when a buyer emails. There are lots of clever scammers out there. I want to see forum posts and/or feedback.
