and had a passenger yesterday whose house was two miles from the fire and approaching fast. She had pics on her phone.

Fire is in some of the most rugged parts of CA. About 1.5 miles from the factory and at about 1200 acres with 10% containment. CAL Fire has 9 air tankers, 9 choppers, 25 dozers and 1000 hands on the ground.
I'm hearing that air quality in Tahoe and Gardnerville NV is awful as a result. In spite of that, air quality here in Foresthill is very good.

At the time I wasn't clear on the proximity. A mile and a half with the wind at you back sounds like a safe buffer.
The Northwesterly winds died down here at the ocean Friday evening compared to Thursday. Hopefully tonight will be calm and they'll be able to get a handle on it.
