In Reply to: RE: RAMF 2007: Some of the people, and some of their music ... posted by Stephæn on October 16, 2007 at 10:17:11
I enjoyed reliving (mentally) my first few albums. I bought four albums on one day from the Music Box on West Esplande Avenue in Metarie (a suburb of New Orleans), for $3.99 each. The one I was most sure of in advance was Led Zep III, so that's the one I listed. The others were A Night at the Opera by Queen; Agents of Fortune by Blue Oyster Cult; and Songs from the Wood by Jethro Tull. I still count all four of them among my most favorite albums - which I guess implies that my musical taste peaked early!
I had to keep my albums hidden from my ultra-conservative parents, and could only play them when they were gone. We lived out in the country and the dogs would bark when they returned, giving me time to whisk my albums away to their secret hiding place. They hated my music and I hated theirs (Verdi and Bizet operas). I don't think I really hated their music - that was just my backlash against what I interpreted as their disapproval of anything I liked (I wasn't very tolerant of them either, you see).
Today, things are so very different. My kids and I love the same music, and it brings us closer. We listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zep, and go to Rush concerts. Both of my sons are musicians, and I think they're great (surprise, surprise). And guess what - my kids' grandparents (my parents) think their music is great, too!
So anyway Stephaen, thanks for inspiring me to reflect and ruminate.

By the way, did you pick up any new lines at the show?

Just some comedic ones. :--)
Seriously though, met a few customers by chance, and had beverages with others. Always a treat to put the name on a face/real person. Wonderful people all.
As far as product, there are a handful of products I wouldn't mind owning and/or promoting, such as the Feastrex drivers (I'm already affiliated with Lotus Group, being their first dealer in the US) and the amazing new Emerald Physics OB. What a deal on the Emerald's at 3K....you made a great decision becoming a dealer.
