No, not really. If there was any difference, it is exceedingly difficult to hear. I thought, perhaps, the PPII had the ever so faint softening of treble but it might be a psychological reaction to knowing there is a device between my rig and the wall outlet. Again, the Monster was gross in its negative impact. Also, keep in mind a cd player directly into an es headphone is about as revealing a system as can be! You can't believe the differences I hear with interconnects! The differences between Homegrown Audio's "Silver Lace" and Monster M100 Mk.II is day and night!
I can confidently recommend the PPII. Maybe you can get it with a return proviso.
