I'm new to the hi-fi arena and would like to know if anyone has any experience with the ASC tube traps, i.e. do they really work, do you notice any sound improvements, etc. Also, what would be the good price range for these things. I just found an Ebay auction on a pair of these but not sure about the pricing (I don't want to get ripped-off). Thanks before hand.

Follow Ups:
They work wonderfully well, but look at their web site first before you do anything else. Measure your room and determine from the information on their website how many you need, the diameters needed for your room and speaker placement (which must be decided first) and where they need to be placed.
Follow their directions exactly and you will probably have a better sounding room than any of your audio buddies.
Downside, they are expensive, but there is no piece of equipment you could pay the same amount of money for which would be as rewarding; they are big and don't really blend into any sort of decor I am aware of.
I've got 23 of them in a large room (24x16x10) and each and every one of them brought an improvement. (It's a dedicated room)
Is there such a thing as an untreated room which they will not improve? No.
Hope this helps.

First, get a CD with test tones (Stereophile Test #2) and walk aroung your room with the tones at 150Hz and below. How much cancellation and reinforcement of bass standing waves do you hear - i.e. how big a problem do you have? If the problem is significant in the bass region, the Tube Traps are excellent to aid in correcting the standing waves. Larger diameter Traps will affect lower bass frequencies. Start with 4 and put them in the corners. Add them where the standing waves (reinforcement) are the worst. ASC will provide assistance in placing them in your room. Don't pay more than 50% of retail for used Traps in perfect condition and the color you want.
Regards,
Mike
