I purchased a pas2 a little while back. Decided to install a vishay 23 stepped attenuator. Bad move. My preamp has a lot of feedback, noise. I now want to reinstall the original volume control with a wires that I clipped for the loudness switch. Which wires are connected where from the original volume control to the pot near the volume control, to the loudness swith, etc. I need a clear diagram for the original setup. Any help would be great.thanks

Follow Ups:
Most, but perhaps not all of what you need is at *Replacing the PAS Selector Switch* under Joe's Tech Support at the top of the page here. A diagram is on page 11. The only change from stock in Joe's diagram is that the loudness switch is deleted from the circuit. Don't connect the 47K resistors as shown, but instead re-connect the 0.1 caps to the loudness taps on the pot (assuming you left them attached to the slide switch). That should get you back to stock configuration.
thanks for the followup. My question is on page11 of the selector switch supplement the 4.7k resistors are connected to pins 7 and 8 on volume control. You stated to not connect these resistors, but connect the 0.1 caps on the loudness tap. On the loudness taps there are 6 pins. 4 of them look like wires were clipped off. So I would connect the 0.1 caps on 7 and 8 pins on volume control and which pins on loudness taps. I can only connect 2 numbers on loudness taps and it looks like 4 of them were used?what next?

Carl,
For sake of clarity, the loudness taps are the two connections on the right side of the potentiometer when looking at it from inside the chassis. The DPDT switch below the pot is the loudness switch.Again using the numbering on page 11, connect a 0.1 uF cap from loudness tap 7 to loudness switch lug 4, second 0.1 cap from loudness tap 8 to switch lug 1.
Connect a solid wire from loudness tap 7 to switch lug 5, second solid wire from loudness tap 8 to switch lug 2.
Finally connect a 4.7K resistor from volume pot lug 4 to switch lug 1, and the second 4.7K resistor from balance pot lug 6 to switch lug 4.
Solder all your connections, and you're back to stock. BTW, you can get the caps from many sources, Antique Electronic Supply, Mouser, Digi-Key, and others. The originals are 0.1 uF/200 volt. If 0.1/400 volt are easier to find, they will be fine, too.
If all of this step-by-step isn't quite clear, feel free to email me with your snail-mail address, and I can send you a photocopy of the original pictorial diagram from the assembly manual.
where would I purchase these 0.1 caps that go on the loudness pin(I threw them out by mistake). What is the voltage?
