I have a couple of ALPS pots to replace my volume pot with and I have a few questions.
1). The pot has small pins for a PC board mount rather than regular solder lugs. What is the best way to solder to these pins...just do the best I can with the bare wires or make a small crcuit board to use between the wires and the pins on the pot? Maybe another way would work better? I'm open to suggestions.
2). The sticker on the back comes off easily. I have a suspicion these may be fakes. Any way to tell for sure? The sticker says "ALPS Japan" "RH2702" "100KAX2" It is white with black print that is clear, but not as clear as it could be. Should there be any markings on the plastic case or inside the pot? I've looked and there's nothing else. These only cost $25 for both (thanks to one being damaged in shipping and a new one sent out for free...I fixed the damaged one BTW) so I don't feel totally raped...I'm just curious what I actually have. Since I need to take a look in the PAS anyway, I figure I may as well install one of these and see if there's any inprovement.
Thanks again!!

If you got these from the overseas source in Asia off the 'Bay, then whether or not they are real or fake is a question I've wondered myself. However, I have installed one, (no pc board necessary, just very patient soldering) and found a definite improvement. However, I found a Noble 250K from Parts Connexion with loudness taps, much, much, better. Just my dos centavos...

Thanks. My soldering skills and patience are lacking, so the easiest for me was to put the circuit board on. Works great!!

I ended up using a piece of project perfboard cut to size. Pushed the pins all the way thru, bent them over to the next hole, and soldered the wires in the holes the pins were touching (also soldering the pins in the process). Works like a champ and made installation really easy.
