DVD-Audiobahn

I just obtained two DVD/CDP's and was wondering if they are considered worthy of discussion or comment.

(I am more of a vintage audio guy so I haven't paid too much attention to the digital world)

1. Panasonic DVD-A7 (20 bucks)
2. Sony DVP-NC665P "Precision Cinema Progressive" (30 bucks)

Both are in brand new condition, both with remotes. Got them at a thrift store in Fort Worth.

I really like the looks and feel of the Panasonic unit. It seems really well made.

    The remote I was given with the purchase "may" be the wrong one. It's a Panasonic remote, but is very basic.
    
    What specifically are the "V.S.S." "Group" and "Audio Only" functions for on the DVD player?
    
    (The remote I have doesn't have anything related to these functions on it)

      hi Brian.see if the bottom of the remote slides.if it does its the right one.the vss is for 2 speakers or headphones.press display and vss once or twice for wider sound stage.leave it off if you have more than 2 speakers.auto only is for better sound.it shuts off the video on it

        Yes, it's slides and I didn't even know it! Doh!
        
        It has all the correct functions and appears to be the correct one.

  I also have the panasonic a7.its the same model as the more expensive and heaver technics a-10.I have both they are reliable.both work fine.you got an exellent deal on that dvd audio player.

    I first purchased the Sony and was looking at another unit (Samsung DVD-VCR combo that looked new.)
    
    I came back the next day to get the Samsung and saw the Panasonic. I walked out and looked up Panasonic DVD's via my phone on AA. I read so many good things about them I went back in and bought it. Glad I did.

      I think it retailed for $600.00 I never new they made that model.I had the technics a10 and saw the a7 on ebay.
