In Reply to: I only know of two 24/96kHz DVDs with full motion video: posted by Teresa on April 20, 2007 at 23:04:52:
Some of the Blu-Ray HD movies already include 5.1 24/48 soundtracks. I'm waiting for enterprising recording studios to start including full motion HD video with high(er) resolution soundtracks.

Follow Ups:
Given the outrageous cost of Blu Ray replication (In the UK, Sony DADC are the only licensed replication company) and the basic licenses are £20,000 up front.
This is before per unit replication, before authoring (remember that Scenarist 4 is the *only* package that can be used for commercial release, as none of the others are any good for anything except BD-R.There is also a spec change coming on October 31, making BD-i support amongst other things mandatory.
This may well affect all existing players.
See http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=6702Additionally, no other audio except LPCM or Dolby Digital and DTS core audio is actually mandated for Blu Ray, so there are a vast majority of players that will not ever support DTS-HD MAS, Dolby True HD, so where is the High Rez?
Personally, I don't give a short, sharp one about video. All I care about is the *music*, and DVD-A works just fine for that.

You are right about first and even 2nd generation Blu-Ray players having issues but I've accepted the early adopter price. And all the players do support "uncompressed" PCM (forget TrueHD or DTS HD MA for music). E.g. Eagle Rock has released a number of titles on Blu-Ray. E.g. I have the Pat Metheny piece which includes a passible (but certainly better than DD) 5.1 16/48 PCM track with a very decent HD video track. There's nothing to stop other labels from releasing full motion HD video with 5.1 24/96 other than the fairly steep price to play the "Blu-ray" game. All things being equal, I'd enjoy rock/pop music (or any other genre) a lot more when I get the visual feedback. I get a big kick out of the Eagle's "Hotel California" 24/96 and 24/192 soundtracks but I'd enjoy it a heck of a lot more if it included the video feed (which it can with Blu-Ray).
