In Reply to: Suggestion: get a manual, or read the one you have... posted by theaudiohiffle on February 16, 2007 at 20:12:28:
Incessant net browsing has shown that there have been others who have spotted inconsistencies in the otherwise excellent manual. One of them was indeed the issue of the choice of inputs for recording an analog input to DSD.So,apparently I found myself in good company(of an audio reviewer-if that may be termed good).
Thanks.

...will record to DVD+R or DVD+RW. That is so basic to the recording process that it has to be included in the manual. If your reference is to a specific brand, and whether or not people have had a bad experience with that brand, you should say so. But as it stands, it sounds like you haven't bothered to examine the manual to find out what type of DVD disks the recoreder uses/supports.
Forgive me for appearing churlish on this...I try to give help online all the time (and did re: the BNC issue) but I get annoyed if I think people are wasting others time in lieu of simply referencing the manual. FWIW, my close friends and family get the same response if they try the same thing. I tell them to please read the manual first, then ask. The answer "I don't like manuals" doesn't cut it with me.

But,I stated specifically in my post that the 5 recommended brands are NOT available where I live.

...I guess I read your heading question without reading the post...either that or what you said just went right past me. Truth of the matter is though that I was influenced by the knowledge that dispite all the noise on usenet, "brands" don't matter very much. Most work just fine if the machine is rated to use that type. The exceptions are some of the very old (circa 1997-98) professional CD recorders which can be formulation sensitive.
Harry,You are one of the good guys here.
I really have to control myself not to react to the unsavory types.
