Thanks, but I'm still sketchy on this. I have a Toshiba SD-9200 DVD-A player with 6 channel outputs to my preamp and then into my amps. You mentioned "pro" as in processor?? Once again, I don't have a DTS processor. And just so I understand, am I correct that DTS is **not** a form of DVD-A, but a distinct format...so I **would not** be able to play the surround hi-rez on my Toshiba?
Unless it has DTS ***AND*** DVD-A...that would be great..does anyone know for sure?
That means it will decode the DTS stream and send the correct signals to the 6-channel analog outs. You should have no problem playing this or any other DTS-encoded discs.

> > You mentioned "pro" as in processor?? Once again, I don't have a DTS processor < <A pre-pro has both pre-amp AND processor functions in one unit. However, it runs as a pure analog (multichannel) pre-amp only when the six analog cables are used, AND you also have to select the multichannel ANALOG input as the source. This then bypasses all DTS & Dolby processing, and then you get to hear the pure hirez signal which comes directly out of the DVD-A player itself.

No need to worry.> > Am I correct that DTS is **not** a form of DVD-A, < <
correct. The two exist separately on the same disc.
> > so I **would not** be able to play the surround hi-rez on my Toshiba? < <DTS is not "hi-rez". The hi-rez is the DVD-A part.

Each of the Doors discs holds both. Your player will default select the best one -- i.e. the DVD-A. :-)

When I was speaking with Elusive Disc, I told them they would probably increase their sales of Doors Perception if their ad had more clarity. They actually used the official Doors press release. Still, when I read it, it seemed to emphasize DTS 5.1 and not high-rez.Anyway, I have read so many posts here that I'm a bit confused. Some were written by naysayers. Martin, who actually confirmed that it has 5.1 high-rez? Was that Botnick, the Doors manager, or the surround sound reviewer that was quoted in a previous message? If I can find an authoritative quote, I may call Elusive back and offer them this info. The guy said he was willing to amend his online ad if he learned more.
Many thanks for the clarification. Once again, I'm so excited and counting the days till it is released.
