Classic Records HDADs included DVD-Audio 24/192 on side one and DVD-Video 24/96 on side two. The plus also includes a CD version as a separate disc, difference in retail price $5.00.As everyone knows I love this series of 192kHz recordings but I have no use for the CD version. And I can't imagine anyone not being able to at least play the DVD-Video side of a HDAD. I know some of you have CD players instead of Cassette players in your cars, so you may find a use there. But my question is it worth an extra $5.00 for the CD to be included? Retail will be $24.99 versus $19.99.
I am up in the air about it. At $20 for 192kHz DVD-Audio versus $30 for the 200 Gram LP, I go for the 50% savings every time, as these are very close in sound quality to the Vinyl LP. But with a difference of only $5.00 should I get the 192kHz HDAD + CD or the 200 Gram LP? I have no use whatsoever for the CD included as I have a high quality cassette deck in my car.
My DVD-Audio is the Toshiba SD-5700 and my turntable is the Music Hall mmf-5. Any thoughts on what I should do?
Here is a link describing the process and titles.
Thanks,
Teresa

Follow Ups:
Since I had just received a tax refund check from the government, I bit the bullet and bought the six-release combo of both LP and HDAD. It's a staggering $300 plus shipping, but I live near San Diego, so the shipping is not so bad. The combo will make a very interesting comparison. I love the 24 bit/192Hz releases from Classic Records. This is the best digital sound I have heard when the original recording is tops. I can't listen to the 24 bit/96Hz side after hearing the the truly hi-rez side. And I want to support Michael Hobson in his endeavor. After reading the information about these releases on his website, I think that we may hear these recording like we have never heard them before, beating even the 2-track tape releases. I have several of the tapes, and they beat any other format up to now. Shipping from L.A. is scheduled for June 6. I don't have long to wait. Jerry S.

You will have 4 versions of each recording.1) Vinyl LP
2) 44.1 CD
3) 24/96 DVD-V
4) 24/192 DVD-A
sorry, Couldn't resist. Like AIX, Think ITRAX looks like a good idea. (as I posted previously)

I prefer the lower price with no CD. I don't like when I'm forced to do that but obviously if it is music I want and have no choice (at least they appear to be giving one) I do it. The only use or play I've ever made on any of the CDs I have that came with hi-rez DVD was Neil Young's "Greatest Hits." While listening to the the 24/96 DVD I stuck the CD in my CD player with its digital output directly into my CD Recorder to make a copy for the car. I never listened to the orig. CD and probably never will.

I compared the HDCD to the 24 Bit 96kHz DVD and the 24/96 was much superior so I never played the Neil Young HDCD version again. I just don't have use for the CD. I wonder would it be ethical or legal to sell the CD and keep the DVD-Audio?
I think I only have a couple of CD and DVD pkgs. (I may end up with a couple of more) and personally would not bother since I'd just as soon keep the pkging. I don't see why it would be illegal. There are used CD stores all over. The question is w/o the pkging. what is its value and is it really worth the hassle?

I would prefer lower price and no CD. I will not listen to a CD when I have it on higher-resolution. I would probably rip the 96/24 track to listen at work. Also extra discs make the packing / jewel case more inconvenient and often takes us more storage space.
Maybe you should petition Classic Records? But there are many CD/SACD folks who do not have DVD players in their main system and Classic may be targetting that crowd. They are one of the few hi-rez companies not releasing SACD. AIX being another example. Do you plan to get any of the new AIX releases?

I'll be buying them direct this time instead of through a 3rd party to get his new sampler for free. I wonder if we could talk Dr. Aix into offering a special discount for Audio Asylum members, as I usually have to buy them from a DVD-Video seller to get a discount. As for the Classic Records new 192/24 Plus I have decided to splurge and spend $5.00 more and get the 200 Gram LP versions.
I'm exhibiting at the Home Entertainment 2006 show and offering 5 discs for $100 plus both the Start Here and latest sampler. SHipping is on me. Just order and mention the Asylum in the comments area...we'll take care of the discount.By the way, the Collectors Edition discs count as 2 discs.
Hope this helps. Thanks for the support.
