What is the difference so long as the disc is purchased? Plus, which format is more readily available on store shelves? We all know the answer to that is Dual Disc which gives that format a much much greater presence. Also, what type of music is Joe more apt to listen to? SACD is now mostly classical music.
FWIW, I have many SACDs but only 1 Dual Disc up to this point. I listen to mostly classic and jazz music. I sure wish there were more SACDs on store shelves.
Follow Ups:
..days, regardless of whether it is CD or SACD. I personally am happy to see more and more classical coming out on SACD, because this is one of the musical forms that really needs the highest quality reproduction.Similarly, jazz nowadays among the larger labels is just about dead..most that is being released is on indie or very small labels, and the only affordable technology available to them unless they are fanatics is PCM....hopefully this will change as equipment like the Pyramix workstation becomes more available and affordable.
So, all we can do is support the good online retailers and hope that through the internet these niches grow and grow and grow. I'm already to the point where available classical SACD's outstrip my budget...but I do wish there were more jazz recordings and reissues.
