Everytime I watch a DVD on my home theater system, people's voices sound really lifeless.
I try to increase the treble, but it doesn't help much. Whenever a musical part plays, the sound is wonderful! I'm wondering if the movie's sound recording people tweak the voice tracks to keep out unwanted higher frequency noise, or hissing. I really would like to watch a DVD movie and be able to hear all the subtle high tones. Again, background music and sound effects passages are fine... nice and bright.Any and all comments welcome,

that the vast majority of my DVD's have the absolute polarities inverted. Try reversing the positive and negative leads on your center and main front speakers. If it doesn't sound better then simply place them back to normal. I leave my speakers leads inverted.
wasn't quite up to snuff when compared with the mains. Of course, designing a Center speaker to fit below a large display and keep up with Aeriel 20-Ts could be a challenge. The Aeriel center is larger than most center speakers I've seen but it did sound flat and lifeless compared to the mains.

most people skimp on the centre channel - both in terms of speaker quality and amplification, but for movies it's where 80% of the signal is, and for dialogue closer to 99%.your centre channel may be struggling with dialogue, and music sounds clearer because they mainly come over the front left/right speakers.
when i first "upgraded" from a stereo system to 5.1, the first thing i noticed was impaired dialogue quality. that was fixed by upgrading to a better centre channel.
