I am new to dvd-a. Just bought a Pioneer universal player. I have been amazed at the SACD playback. I finally decided to try dvd-a this week and picked up Steely Dan's "Everything Must Go". The first play through 2 days ago was fine. Last night i put it in and it skips like crazy. Can't even make it 20 seconds without it freezing up. It's not the disc, because it plays fine on my standard Sony dvd player.
Follow Ups:
I have the 563 and the Steely Dan Everything must go DVD-a and it plays fine. Sounds like a bad disc if that is the only one you are having the problem with.

The SACD's that I have all play fine. Dvd video plays fine. Redbook cd's are fine as well. The only thing that will not track is dvd-a. I have to think its something in the player because the Steely Dan dvd played fine once on the 578 and plays fine on the regular dvd player.

on the DVDA and the CD. Apples and oranges.

No mention of CD here mate - different sections though. The original poster has problems playing the DVD-Audio tracks but can play the disc in his normal DVD player. Dolby Digital? DTS? Not Redbook.

Geoff

What Pioneer player do you have? If you bought the old Pioneer DV-563A then you may need a firmware upgrade.

It is the 578A-s.
