On REM it defaulted to the 2ch high res but didnt for Richard Thompson. One thing I didnt understand was that I set the digital out to 192 and conected to a Scott Nixon DAC it still played (which it shouldnt if as that DAC only accepts 44.1) ...

Follow Ups:
When you set it to 192 it does not mean it outputs 192. Just means that "if" the disc had 192 content and "if" it were allowed to be decoded then the output would be 192. Otherwise the output is whatever the disc can put out (in the case of a CD then 16/44). Some receivers/DACs cannot handle 192...so if you had a disc in the machine that was 192 and it allowed its 192 digital out then the receiver/DAC would not work....then you would have to set the output on the player to 24/96 or lower so the receiver/DAC would work. I hope this helps.

If someone knows...
What kind of DAC Panasonic uses in S47 also S97 and their receivers XR45,XR50,XR70?
As promised, XR70 and S97 will be equiped with HDMI, but does it means that DAC in XR70 will be superior than stock S97?

Different subject. Can the video section be switched off on the S47?
