I visited CC in Framingham, MA a week ago Friday. They had one DVD-A, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours in the entire store. When I mentioned it in checking out, no one knew what I was talking about. They did have some SACDs. Strawberrys a local chain, next door to CC had a good selection of both SACDs and DVD-As as does Tower Record in Burlington, MA.
![]()
does not have a separate DVD-A (or SACD) display. DVD-As and SACDs are mixed in with the regular CDs. In my search today, I found approx 25 SACDs mixed in the Pop/Rock section, 4 DVD-As. No classical or jazz DVD-As or SACDs anywhere in the store.

You might be on to something here. I didn't ask the manager the status on them but if they were going to keep stocking them you would think a store would have more than just (4) SACD's.

Either SACDs or DVD-A recordings lately.I had been shopping and trying some DVD players over the last month or so and I decided on the Cambride Audio Azur 540D. Very very good build and picture quality for the price. I have the Technics DVD A10 but that player doesn't match the PQ of the 540D.
Blockbuster has a $15.99 unlimited viewing special going on for a one month period. I have been watching movies like crazy! Also a local library has 2 week rentals for only $2.00. Now this is what I call bang for buck!! :)

All of the Circuit Cities I ever went into here in Miami, had the surround system set up with only a few dozen titles one either side. I'm sure that there were some hybrids thrown in with the regular CDs, but they never had a large selection and usually a few dupes, with few distinct titles.I was in the Best Buy here and they still had one section of DVDAs and two sections of SACDs. I noticed some newer titles, but it wasn't much. I asked the blue shirt stocking the racks about SACD and DVDA and he didn't have anything definitive to say either way.
I walked out with Kill Bill II and no music. With EBAY and the net, you can find anything, but sometimes it's nice to cash and carry. I have to check out Virgin this w/e, just for an update. They have been up and down over the almost 2.5 years.
The Circuit City Store in Sterling, Virginia still has their DVD-A and SACD displays up and running, with an ample supply of product. The two Best Buy's in this area, Reston and Sterling are also fairly well stocked.

Yes they are but there have been articles and people suggesting they have seen new set-ups in some stores where they go away as per this example: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/techinvestor/techcorporatenews/2004-05-18-best-buy-redo_x.htmObviously hi-rez, SACD and DVD-A is a niche market that won't bring in as much revenue as games sales or even custom home theater stuff. So it would not surprise me to see some of the stores do away with them. The available titles in those stores are pathetic as compared to what is online. When Best Buy has their 10% off coupons over the past couple of years, I have only managed to find one DVD-A of interest and about 10 SACDs. They bury some hybrids in the regular CD section at both stores. They certainly are not great proponents of the either format. When I ask employees about whether they're getting a recent release in, I have to explain to them what the formats are.

I certainly agree on all points with you. But I have been surprised in my travels that all the Best Buy's I have visited, all over the States, do have a section for these, and are not badly stocked. So they must sell.
![]()
It is very very slim pickings in the stores I frequent in NJ for both DVD-A and SACD recordings in both Best Buy and Circuit City.
Sure seems that the stores in my area have given up on both SACD and DVD-A! Same can be said for Circuit City!
![]()
The Best Buy store here had a very nice selection of both SACD and DVD-A when I was there yesterday.

BWHAHAHAHAA!!!!!
![]()
Chris, can you do something about that ?
you have plenty of enemies already to bother making new ones :)
Cheers
Think before you post. Especially about me.

Time to move on
![]()
here's someone we can do without...
![]()
seems like the pot calling the kettle black.Weren't you suspended recently for your quality contributions?By the way I've enjoyed the English practice in our communications. You should consider a remedial course yourself ,or is it also your second language?
![]()
Are you saying the disc does not sound bad at "low levels"?
Since you get everything else wrong, and can't admit you are ever wrong, even when GRANT GEISMAN SAYS THE DSIC SOUNDS BAD, there is no point dealing with you. You do not have integrity to admit when you are wrong. By the way, the suspension was for not being positive (enough of a booster) of the format.
I was too "negative" about SACD, in other words, too truthful in my opinions. You don't post yours, you just call names.
![]()
that the disc sounds bad.Heragain for your listening pleasure is MR. G's¨post in it's entirety : Again, for the record, what I posted was EXACTLY this:
"One thing I did say, which might have been misinterpreted in the retelling, is that the disc really doesn't sound that good at low levels, but really starts to open up when you crank up the volume."Doesn't the above say, or at least imply, that it sounds good when you crank up the volume?
Grant Geissman
I'd say that post makes you either illiterate or a liar.Of course you did say you are a lawyer?
![]()
"Just because Grant Geisman says it does sound bad at low volume, that means nothing!!! It's ONLY a flesh wound".Have the courage to admit you were wrong. By the way, do you have the disc? Or are you only trolling?
And learn to spell.
I'll learn to spell but it may take awhile as "litle" boys are slower than big mature lawyers .Yes ,I have the disc as I stated in my first post,it was you that kept insisting I'd never heard it.Do you think Mr. Geisman may have been referring to dynamic range or does everything require gross simplification for you not to twist and misinterpret.
![]()
Geisman said "it does not sound good.,,"
Geisman never said it does sound good (under any circusmtanaces). Dude, read beween the lines!
You insanely and falsely accused me of making up those comments by Geisman, which YOU JUST KNEW were made up because you could not find them on the net.Guess if you don't know about them, they don't exist. LOL
You are a nut. And the comments by the forthright Geisman, though not on the net, turn out to be true.I was right. You were wrong.
Apologize sniveler, and admit you were wrong.
Grow up.
Wake up.
Smell the coffee. Its over, And even had you been right your anger and hostility showed you to be a whack job either way. We are talkin sound quality of a DVD disc, that neither of us has any stake in.
Except you, emotionally, for some reason. A 2% er.
Move on.
![]()
Your post(there are others):Unless others here want this bizarre post answered, I will let you wallow in your inability to admit you are wrong.BTW: You divert form the fact you don't have the disc and I do. But you believe your view of this disc deserves posting. (Meds cart please, nurse. Now!)
BTW: WHAT IN THE FUCKING world makes you think there is a link to all facts you don't know....LOL!!!
What does the brochure say inside?
![]()
When are you two getting in bed?:)
he talks about me. Big difference. Litle kid in Holland gets a chance to match wits with lawyer.
![]()
That wouldn't take more than a 50% commitment from my side.
![]()
.
![]()
and you're actually a lawyer-isn't the internet amazing -we can pretend to be anything we want. What's to make us believe you're actually a lawyer. Are illiterates actually allowed to practice law in the U.S.?
![]()
let's stay on the topic of audio. And yes he is a lawyer and so what if many don't write like Shakespeare? They aren't shooting for the NY Times bestseller list, now are they?
Am I supposed to?I have on occassion called Chris, "Your Honor!"
.

we're in the dog days of August and things are slow. We have ZS over on HRH and you have Bugs Bunny and if you want, a player to be named later? I call it even.Relax and don't open up his posts. Remember, there's still a WAR going on.
SACD seems to have won. :-)
![]()
> > SACD seems to have won < <What, even though it sounds no better than redbook properly done?
![]()
and get a system worthy of SACD . If you can't hear a beneficial and audible difference for the better, across a level playing field, then you both have clay in your ears and need help.

Assuming it's true. I haven't been in my local Circuit City recently, so I don't know if DVD-As are still there or not.But anyway, if the reports of legal delays for the DualDisc are true, then it would be a mistake to pull product in ancipation of their release. Legal delays of this type, especially in the US, often take months/years.
![]()
Well I have been in several CC stores on several occasions the last couple of years. There where hardly any DVD Audio's to be found there to begin with
and not much sa-cd either. It's more like an electronic supermarket, more than half the software floorspace is DVD already.
Not a good place to look for music.
IS Zszerkl going to celebrate this?
I cannot remember which camp he is in; although I am sure neither wants him as a member,
![]()
Yes, already pulled at my store.
![]()
and it turned out to be false. That makes me mad, you should have had a chance to buy them cheap. Rather than sending them back, they should have offered them for $7.99 or something.
FWIW, I will check mine today too. I gues s that oficially makes yesterday the day DVDA died.
![]()
So this isn't a big deal!
![]()
So why are there 405 DVD-A's listed for sale on their website?
![]()
Well they may be selling them online still ...I really dont know the details but this is what happened at my local store and the manager of the store told me this.
