To get the DVD-Audio output, you need to have the 6 analogue outputs from the DVD-A player hooked up into the analogue inputs, and use the 6.1 direct option on the amp. This is how it works with my 540R.
You also need to have the Video outputs connected to the Amp or direct to the TV too.
That way, all should be just fine.

Yeah, I've got all that set up. Component vid out to the TV, and coaxial cables connecting the analog outs to the analog ins on my receiver. I've used 3 other dvd-a players with my system, so I know I have it connected right. There isn't something in setup that needs to be changed when you go from a dvd-v to a dvd-a, is there? In the dvd player setup mode, you can set the SPDIF OUT mode to either "raw(bitstream)" or "PCM". I've got it set to raw, but this shouldn't affect dvd-a anyway, as its signal goes out the analog outputs. There is also an option to set the maximum sampling rate to either 48k, 96k or 192k. I've got it set to 192k, which my receiver supports.I guess I'll call the dealer(AudioAdvisor) and see if they can tell me anything. If not, I'll have to return it.
