I picked this up at HMV on Saturday. They had both the DVD-A and the SACD, so I picked the DVD-A. The music is very well played and recorded. However, when you hit track 5 (Scriabin) on my Esoteric you get the most unholy loud static-like noise, and it sticks there. I'll bring the DVD-A back to HMV and try the SACD.

Follow Ups:
I have the same DVD-Audio and I find no problem at the beginning of Track 5 - just a quiet beginning to the Scriabin. My machine is the Toshiba SD-9200.

Sure, it's getting old now, but crikey does it plough through anything you throw at it. Toshiba got it right when they made that old girl.
Cheers,
Paul.

Bob, do you have any problems with the Silverline Classics releases? You probably saw my earlier posts, with the SD 5700 you have to go to Dolby Digital 5.1 to get any music.

It appears that the Silverline Classics have not yet been released in Canada. I would like several of them, as I have read nothing but excellent reviews on them. Since I plan to attend the 2004 Home Entertainment Expo in New York on May 21-23, and Silverline has a booth there, I plan to pick up numerous discs there, as well as talk to the reps from Silverline.
By the way, do you have the latest firmware upgrade for your player?

I did, today, get their latest, Brahms Symphony No. 1 and Hydn Variations, which played OK, and is a superb recording. I don't know if there are any firmware updates for this player. Can you help me out with that? Can't you order them from sendmemovies.com? They seem to get them very quickly.

For what its worth, the Silverline Classics play with no problem on the Esoteric DV-50. The Pathetique is the only disc I own out of 800 or so in every conceivable format which will not play correctly on the DV-50. And yes, ct, I ordered the Brahms.

This is the same title that has problems on the Denon DVD-5900.
