Can't recommend any dvd-a discs but how would you describe the overall sound of the Yamaha on redbook/sacd vs. the C555ES?
Yamaha has just come out with a cheaper universal, DVD-S1500($399) that features upsampling I believe.
Thanks

Was very impressed. Popped in Jerome Harris (Stereophile CD Series) and a couple of Mapleshade CD's and liked what I heard. Far better in my opionion than the C555ES

Just bought it last night, have not had a chance to play with it a whole lot. And of course, no time for burn in. Right out of the box, the unit sounds pretty good and definately sounds different as compared to the sony. I dont know if the units settings have anything to do with it, but the rear channels on multi channel sacd,s seem to blend better with the fronts and center. The bass is ever so slightly tighter. Much to my suprise the yamaha is a bit laid back as compared to the sony. From past experience with yamaha products, I found them to be a little on the bright side. The sony does seem to produce a larger soundstage though. I have not had the chance to play a redbook cd yet, that will be tonight.
