I just got an 563a and I can't play "time again", the David Sanborn DVD-A issued from Verve. I can play the "The Rat Pack - Live at the Villa Venice", Reprise, DVD-A no problem. The Sanborn DVD-A is recognized by the player and starts to play tracks if I select one but no sound is produced and the track will switch to the next one some random time before it is finished. I use the stereo analog outputs and tried the l/r surround fronts to no avail.

Yep, I understand. The Sanborn DVDA was authored with the latest software rev. There will be many titles authored in the last few months that the 563a will have problems with, until and unless Pioneer addresses this problem.I do urge you to call or write Pioneer and make sure that they are aware of this issue.

Thanks for answering.I drove Borders,Circuit City and myself crazy with this. I, of course, thought it was the DVDA's problem. I tried to play it on a 563a at Circuit City, where a few hours earlier I bought my player and it wouldn't play so we assumed it was the disc. I then returned the disc to Borders and nicely they let me choose a new one, the Rat Pack one, since that was the last Sanborn they had BUT I then went to Circuit City and bought another Sanborn which we tried on a Panasonic they had there and it worked but it didn't play again when I got home. Arggh! Well at least I won't take this one back now that I know where the problem lies and will use your info on MEI/Sonic to try to convince Pioneer there is a problem.

I have not had problems with surround DVD-audio discs but i do get a crackling noise when playing 192/24 stereo on both doobie brothers captain and me and I robot. the doobies certainly wasn't mastered with latest software.
