I record from vinyl to my Alesis Masterlink at 24/88.2. You can then burn the music onto a CD-R in the Masterlink's CD24 format. Essentially, it copies the music as AIFF files. At 24/88.2, I can almost always get one record side onto one CD-R. At 24/96, I was finding that I often needed to split one record side among two CD-R's. The difference in sound quality is negligible (to me) -- and it's just more convenient.Once a record is burned onto two CD-R's as AIFF files, I transfer them to my computer. I use Wavelab to clean the file of ticks/pops, and I use Discwelder Steel to burn DVD-A's. Discwelder Steel is absurdly easy to use -- it's literally a drag and drop process for copying files, and then one menu click to burn the DVD-A (okay, maybe two menu clicks). I've been very pleased with the results.
