Hi,
I have an early LCR Cole with S&B SUT's and Silk LCR's. It has developed a problem in the right channel that I can't solve.
It's not tubes etc. but it's beyond my technical capabilities. I don't believe this unit adheres to any strict Cole specs.
It's already been back and forth to Hong Kong for service (for earlier shipping damage) and I'd
like to avoid hundreds of dollars in shipping charges to get it fixed again.
I'm in New York. Can anyone recommend a tech that could help me anywhere in North America? I'd love to fix it but I just can't afford the additional over seas shipping costs.
Thanks,
Matthewb

Hi,
No idea on the tech, however what is the problem?

Well, I'm not sure really. The right channel is just passing static and noise with almost no signal. Sometime loud worrying thumps so I haven't investigated further for fear of damaging my speakers. This is an early (possibly prototype) version of the LCR Cole that I bought used from Brian at DIY Hifi.
Thanks for replying

Hi,
Sounds to me as if you do not have the ability to trouble shoot yourself then, right? You would need to at least measure voltages and stuff like this.

I do have a digital volt meter but I'm an absolute novice at all this. That's why I was hoping to find a local tech.
