Anybody notice this problem?
With mine it is more pronounced, and I do mean PRONOUNCED, with the postive rail.
Is this a heat problem or is it caused by too low voltage rating of the capacitors?
The most distorted in shape cap is near the transformer and the transformer has been burned. The cellophane has melted and the wire is discolored.
I also have a A403 which did the same thing. My 402 I got from DIY on EBAY. I am not complaining about DIY. I got a great price but if I had paid full price I would be concerned.
Any explanation would be appreciated.
I am replaceing all of these caps with computewr grade caps of 100 volts. This will require doing away with the bottom cover but the compromise is worth it.

Dear Rick,
Brian is very busy right now and may have missed this as he has little time for forums. Best way to contact him/diyhifisupply is to send him an e-mail.

Hard to be sure, could be either or could be a bad batch of capacitors (the same problem many large computer and related gear manufacturers had).

This does not good. It seems the Cap got seriously hot, hotter than the mains transformer.
I suggest you take some pictures and send them to Brian, he or Reckhorn may be able/willing to replace the bad parts.

I am not complaining just wondered if there was a solution.
I have got some higher voltage caps (surplus ADCOM, computer style) and will be giving them a try very cautiously!
I wrote wrongly in my mote, the most seriously distorted cap was not near the transformer, though that one was on its way. The positive voltage supply is ont he other side of the board.
I am driving a horn subwoofer which does not require much power. Maybe the package is just too small and there is a heating problem?
Same caps in both versions. I would think they were built at very different times. That would be a lONG run of bad caps. One wonders if they are fakes?
I was hoping some other users of this would let me know of their experience.
Thanks again,
Rick McInnis
a friend uses the rekhorn amp to drive an isobarik. no complaints, so far. although now that you mention this, I think I will have him check thisnweekend
