Why not .1uf? That is what the original design called for. There have been a couple of revisions of this circuit (feedback values), but from what I can tell,the coupling cap has remained the same value.
No expert, but from my limited knowlede, don't you want to keep the cap as low in value for even bass response?
I was reading the response you got from your question and I saw an answer you got so i thought I would place my zero cents. Actually you want the biggest cap the component can take but if .22 is too big then use a .1. With a .22 if there is no oscillations then it will drop down the lower frequencies a bit more. Might not be heard but will measure that way. On the other hand it is always best to follow the schematic but sometimes that has revisions as well.
