As I continue to play cd player roulette, I came across a local ad for an Onkyo DV-SP1000. I know that it is about 12 years old but the thing is built like a tank. Any thoughts on using it as a transport for redbook cd's and as a stand alone for SACD's? I can get it for $95 bucks. It looks cool and does have Wolfson DACs.

for $95- go for it!
It not an SACD player, but Harmon Kardon HD7500 or 7600 are great sounding early 90s machines. Easy to listen to.
I had one for 15 years and my buddy's is still playing.
I called the guy with the Onkyo and set up a time to look at it at his house. When I drove in he walked out to the driveway with the piece. I told him that I wanted to plug it in and make sure it played, then I would pay his asking price. He assured me that it worked. I said I don't buy anything used without trying it. He said again that it worked great. I finally got him to go in the garage and plug it in. I brought a redbook cd, a dvd, and an SACD. SACD first and played fine. Redbook not so much "No disc found". DVD "No disc found" He said that he was sure an "easy fix" I said that I didn't want to buy a broken player. He offered it to me for $20. No sell
I am sick of people trying to pawn off their broken crap.
