I had the AA DDP-1 and it was the best PCM dac and only preamp/dac that I liked. I drove I with a Rogue ST100.
I ended up with a Mytek Brooklyn, Audio Research LS17, and Pass 30.8 but the AA/Rogue was remarkably close.
I thought the preamp in the AA was better than the one in the Mytek.
I could easily have settled for the AA/Rogue if I -
1. Didn't need DSD.
2. Wasn't a nut.

You do, and you aren't.
How do like the Brooklyn?
Do you use the Attenuator option for the Output Level?
I use the Internal Jumpers And the Volume Trim at Max for my system, 192/DSD Dac
In the review I read, he used Analog Volume Control turned all the way up, and Line Out.
I checked with Mytek, they said that was OK to do.
What settings do you like?

I'm very happy with the Brooklyn. Prefer it to the wyrd4sound dsd and benchmark hcg.
I use the jumpers with the volume control bypassed. Tried the analog volume control at 100% but heard more detail with bypass.
Joe
Thanks!
Would you please describe the sound without the jumpers?
My preamp goes in increments, not continuous, so the volume was too loud between 2 and 3 on the dial. It gave the music a a harsh quality but it could have just been the volume. With the jumper I use my preamp between 4 and 8 and it gives a perceived smoother sound but it could just be the correct volume. Excuse my ignorance of audiophilia.
Joe
That has been my experience too.
Thanks.
It's off topic, but today I set up a raspberry pi3 with moode into the Mytek and it really sounds good. No problem with Hirez or DSD.
For $50 this makes me wonder what an audiophile server would sound like.
