I am needing a DAC that has a USB input and RCA output to feed a custom tube amp. There are so many variations, I find it difficult to even try to find a USB input to RCA output.

Thanks guys. I will look for Schiit Bifrost first and IFI Audio Nano second if Schiit Bifrost can not be bought. I find a used Schiit Bifrost on ebay with optional USB installed. Many IFI Audio Nano are on ebay.
If you are happy with something small that doesn't take up an extra power socket and plays only PCM 44.1/16 up to 96/24, the Wavelength Proton is nice. New, it was $500, and used models are going for a lot less. Its battery is charged automatically from the USB plug. Mine never stopped playing.
I think nearly all modern DACs have a USB digital input and RCA analog outputs. I'm waiting to see what Oppo's new Sonica DAC will sound like. It's supposed to introduced next month.
Is that you Jim?
Almost all dacs now have a USB input, and most offer single ended RCA outputs.
What is your budget?
There are reasonable dacs starting at a couple hundred all the way to 5 figures, all that will have the inputs and output you need.
If your custom preamp is real high end, check out the PS Audio Directstream dacs, or for $2200 look at the Benchmark Dac3, it is brand new. I have a Dac2 that is very good. And buying used will get you a lot more for your money. A lot of people upgrade dacs, so there are a lot of good deals to be had.
You need to give us your budget and any other criteria.
For the first time in 40+ years I found I now need a dac with 4 inputs. Between the USB, I also needed an input for my CD transport, my Oppo, and a digital sattelite tuner. So you need to be more specific in your needs.

Which model Schiit?
Nice sounding and relatively inexpensive, the IFI Audio Nano DSD would fit your bill. If you purchase from Music Direct they have a 30 day return policy.
I have an ifi Audio nano DSD. In addition to RCA audio outputs it has a SPDIF digital output. This digital output which feeds my DSP crossover/EQ without another conversion stage is perfect for my needs.

The IFI Audio Nano iDSD is battery only unit that lasts 8-10 hours and apparently no option for a 120 volt AC power supply. I will be using the DAC in my home location, not portable.
