Paul McGowan is touting a new transport from PS Audio that I find very interesting. It is not its ability to extract DSD data from SACDs and send it over to one of their DACs. What I find most interesting is his claims that CD performance is greatly improved even over its current memory player.
He says that the new player is able to extract more information from CDs (or words to that effect). Is that possible?
What information is current transports leaving behind?
Follow Ups:
Cheap computer CD drives all extract bit perfect files off of disc. Computer programs would crash if they didn't. The only relevant variable in an a computer style hit perfect 'memory' audio transport application then is the amount of jitter introduced to the bit stream as it's transmitted over the interface to the DAC.Paul McGowen has a long track record of maximizing sales hype, in my opinion.
Unsubstantiated claims of an audio component extracting more information is an old industry marketing tactic.
