Don't know if it replaces a squeezebox touch, I've never had one. But I love, love, love my Bluesound Node 2.Sitting listening to a jazz station as I type. It has all kinds of streaming service links on it; Deezer, Spotify, Tidal, Rhapsody, Tune In etc...
It seems to work great, you just choose the icon for the service you want to stream. On some you put your username and password in or it streams right away. With others like Spotify, you download the app to mange playback of content.
The BluOS ap is excellent. Support is outstanding as well. The Node 2 itself is a very well made and good looking compnent. And the cherry on top is that it sounds fantastic wether I'm streaming or playing from my music library.
It is one of the best purchases I have made. Make sure you check it out. If you have a Best Buy near you, grab one and see if you like it. If not exchange it with no hassles.
Cheers,
Scott

As I understand it, when you play Spotify it streams from your phone, not the Node 2....The Sound Quality is then at the mercy of your phone.

You have to have to have Spotify Premium. You chose your payback device (Node 2 in my case) under settings in Spotify from say, your iPad, then you use the Spotify app to manage playback and content. You can also manage the stream bit rate from settings.
I haven't used it in this way yet. I'm enjoying all the free music that's accessible that I haven't been moved to pay for any of the premium services yet.
Sure, but your phone does the actual streaming not the Node 2.... So, as I said you are at the mercy of a phone and of its processes. From the website...""Spotify Connect lets you play Spotify's streaming music library through your Bluesound system via your smartphone or tablet (requires Spotify app and a premium subscription; firmware and app version 1.10.0 or higher)"
So, the Node 2 CANNOT Stream Spotify.
