I'm still using the one purchased during the hype when they first came out. Only mod was a DIY power supply upgrade.
The P3A price was fair (to me) at the time. Wondering if anyone has moved to something else and why? Or maybe it's still good enough to keep?
I still listen to Redbook. Don't need one with a preamp built-in. Would be looking at around $1000 US. Used would be fine. Am using Roksan Caspian for transport. See my profile for rest of system.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

P.S. I've been seeing them for sale for as little as a couple hundred dollars. Hence my thought to perhaps move on

Follow Ups:
The P3A was an artifact of the asynchronous sample-rate conversion (ASRC/"upsampling") days.... It's a DAC that I wouldn't recommend. But if you like how it sounds, that's the most-important thing.
What a reminder! I have one and the P1 sitting in my closet for years. Dunno what to do with them.

pulling it out of the closet. Listen to the P3A (without the P1A.)
Let me know if it should go back in the closet.
Recommend something else you might be aware of in my budget.
Kal, if you have a moment, I would really appreciate this. Even a comment without pulling it out of the closet.
Cheers!

Can't do it in my current setup. Mebbe later.
Here's the thing, for a couple of hundred dollars you can get different sounding but it's better that's debatable. I've held on to my old Muse dac because for a few hundred dollars I heard no improvement. That's my system and my ears for you it may be different. For a few hundred it may be worth it to experiment. For me I like NOS dacs that don't oversample, to my ears they're more natural to others it has to be hi resolution. With digital newer isn't always better.
