The Mytek table at CAF had a set up with 192/24 FLAC and MQA versions of the same track. They both sounded great. The MQA file had a slight bass rise probably between 100 and 250 Hz. It was not flabby just fatter. Other than that I did not perceive a difference in SQ that was meaningful.

If the MQA file sounds identical to the 24/192 and is a small file easy to stream then it will bring hi-rez streaming to all of us

This was based on a very short comparison on a headphone system I am not familiar with playing a track I am not familiar with. Taking into account those limitations of my comparison - It might. Do you know what the file size ratio between a 192/24 FLAC or AIFF and an MQA would be.
FLAC is a bit difficult to answer as the compression rate varies with the signal.
Talking straight PCM
word length * sample rate * number of channels= bits/s
24* 192000* 2 =9216000
24* 44100* 2 =2116800 MQA
16* 44100* 2 =1411200 CD

The Mqa file is about 1/3 the size of the 24/192. But the main importance is the bit rate. The MQA file streams at a bit rate equivalent to a 16/44 flac file. This makes it easy to stream files that sound as good if not better than 24/192 files
The MQA file streams at a bit rate equivalent to a 16/44
No, it is 24/44
They do a lossy compression of the signal above 22 kHz ad store this in the bits below 16 hence they need 24 bits
The Well Tempered Computer
correct 24/44 or 24/48

I wonder how many people don't realize that MQA is a lossy compression scheme. Even the Mytek rep's convoluted sales pitch in the Raven Audio room at the Capital Audiofest didn't mention this point. Instead it was all about 'timing errors', etc.
To me MQA is mainly a numbers game (i.e. marketing) and a way for the record companies to 'support' high-res audio without giving people the chance to have a copy of the real goods.
