To have a decent stereo system. As far as the iTunes thing is concerned - He doesn't really use his iTunes gift cards for anything but the latest video games on his PS4 like MLB '15 The Show.
His favorite band is Rush and AC/DC (among many others) because power rock is where it a at for him.
Doing geeky 21st century crap ain't his bag either - Fanning would be hitters and sending their ass's back to the dugout with their heads hanging is his "thang". He's a throwback. Hell, his hero is Nolan Ryan.
We found a real nice pair of Spica TC-60s to go along with the Adcom separates and the SVS SB1000 sealed sub.

Let me get this straight... you are giving your 12 y.o. son an audio system consisting of TC-60s driven by Adcom gear?
All I can say is.... pretty cool! :)
If you can find a decent condition ADCOM GCD-575, they can be modded to sound very nice!
Well; just doing my part to keep the hobby going.
The fact that he hates rap, hip-hop, and bubble gum pop makes me want to get him something decent to listen to.

Nice pics!
which player did you buy?
Thanks.
We haven't bought anything yet, but after a little research I'm kinda leaning toward the the Sony. Specifically the CDP 555-ESD, 227-ESD, 337-ESD and a few others.
They are all built like bulldozers and with tweaking (Lampizator mods) can be SOTA players.
If not the Sony, then possibly a 540 or 640 from Cambridge Audio.

Agreed,
a Sony ES is a nice match w/ Adcom.
I had this set up back in the early 90's.
I have a few working Sony ES CD players and they sound pretty good to me.

I have had nothing but faithful service with my "ES" machines. Believe it or not I'm currently getting great sound with my Sony DVP NC555-ES DVD/CD/SACD player used as a transport with a PS Audio NuWave DAC and Black Cat cable.
I have a few on my eBay search list; Denon 2560, Sony cdp 337,557,707,555, Arcam 73, Pioneer PD-65......Basically good sounding spinners with bomb proof mechanisms that can be upgraded (Lampizator).

They do seem to hold up well. I also have a Sony SACD/CD changer that sounds very good. I can't remember the model though.
