In Reply to: RE: Marantz CD-67SE squeal at end of playing a disc..?? posted by Jonesy on May 27, 2016 at 14:40:35
If it is physical and coming from the player turn down the music while the CD is playing and make sure the noise isn't there then as well. You didn't say if it was loud or soft or if the noise came through the speakers or from the player so excuse the potential redundance in my post.

sound is coming from the player, not audible at all between tracks....not a quiet squeal either.....
Could it bevthe laser moving back to the inside rest position after playing the disc? Stop a disc after playing just track one and compare the sound. That may give insight.

Made the squeal so it must the sound of the mechanism going back to rest. So, what do I lube? :) Pics would be very helpful as I am not a diy kind of guy plus the peripheral neuropathy in fingers is getting worse so kinda tough to do any kind of "fine" work....
If you open and look at the laser there are two metal rails on which it moves back and forth that might be the noise source. If they are you could put some appropriate lube on a Q tip. Obviously do some testing with the cover off and try and pin point the source of the noise. Was the duration of the noise shorter when you stopped the disc after track one than the duration when the whole disc was played?

yes, the duration was shorter...
That lends itself to the laser returning to the rest position. Get in there and relube it. I know you can do it.
