I've read a lot about this.
Many say Toslink is the worst, I like it the best. I guess it is worth a shot to see what you like for yourself. The Audioquest Forest is very good for about $40 USD. You can get quite a few good Toslink cables in that price range.

Same here.... It minimizes RFI because the that from the source isolated from the DAC/analog stage.
The Toslink cable I use in my computer system is the Industrial Fiber Optics Eska Premier Toslink cable. The price is insanely cheap, but it's as good as any Toslink cable I've tried, at any price.
Hi !
thanks a lot for the very valuable advice.
I like the fact that in this way source and dac are electrically separated.
What leaves me a little concerned is the feeling that optical connections are usually cheaply made.
But i have to try the toslink anyway.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
I've had very cheap Toslink cables and have had problems. Also there is the fear that the Toslink ports are cheaply made as well.
I understand the worry. I am in the same boat. I just try to do the best I can. Sometimes that means spending more money unfortunately. But you get what you pay for.
The Toslink is basically the same thing as fiber optic. Probably the best way of sending light around, and yes electrically separated. Perhaps that is why I like the sound better.
I will try it for sure.
I like digital when it sounds relaxed while keeping a nice detail.
Not easy to achieve.
Thanks a lot again.
Kind regards,

I found the sound not as bright and more relaxed with Toslink. So you should be pretty surprised. It is a nice smooth sound.
Let us know what you think when you try it.
Warm regards.
For sure ! and nice to hear that toslink helps in "relaxing" the sound.
I have often experienced listening fatigue with digital.
Almost never with analog. Analog maybe is not perfect but always listenable. Bad digital is painful.
I will report anyway.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
