In Reply to: Re: May I be bold and ask how much does the AN DAC 3.1x + transformers cost? [nt] posted by Dave Derrick on March 02, 2001 at 19:38:25:
Dave, After listening to the DAC3.1 at the Bristol Show, I`ve also just ordered an ex-dem model (somewhere in Hungary at the moment apparently!), and will probably be fitting the new interface transformers in the near future. Could you let me know how much the transformers cost, how many there are and if it`s a simple job - I`m pretty handy with the soldering iron. Also, what were the resultant improvements? Thanks in advance.
Follow Ups:
Not certain about the model number of the transformers, or the difficulty of adding them. For me, parts and labor added $900US to the cost of the unit, and the work was done in the UK.I have yet to have a chance to listen to (or open up and examine) the DAC, but I expect to have the unit shipped to me soon. Have not heard a 3.1x Signature without 'the' transformers for reference, so I won't be able to remark on differences.
Peter Qvortrup would likely be a good source of answers for the questions you have.
