or just one side? If just one side, did you switch R/L cables and you could duplicate it?

Yes, both left and right.

inputs? if so have you tried another input?
Sounds simply like a sick CDP. There is always inserting different balanced cables, CDP and preamp one at a time to eliminate each as the culprit. Ayre has good Customer support. I happily have both an Ayre preamp and DAC in my system. When I originally purchased my QB9, it died after 3 days of use. Seems there was a cold solder somewhere. My dealer overnighted it to them and they overnighted me a new DAC. I understand crap happens, but I couldn't have been happier with their Customer support. Good luck to ya!

It does and I have new cables on the way. I made contact with Charles Hansen. He's being quite responsive and helpful.

Hope the new cables address the issue.
What appears to be the problem with the current cables?
Cheers!

Don't know if there is a problem with my current cables. Want to eliminate them as variable.

Keep us posted -Wendell.
CH can be a "flake" at times...
Not sure if he handles troubleshooting/repair directly. I've always spoken to Michael.
