Yes, a DV7010, very nice machine, I was running it with a step down transformer (its a 220VAC unit tweaked to play all regions). I've stopped watching DVD's and TV in general, back to basics. Upgrading to the stand alone DAC with digital output not unbalanced RCA's made the most difference. The goal was to move to tubes - A Class single ended.

which I use for CD/SACD and the wife uses for movies rented from the library so we're set.
Not yet bothered to hook up the SPDIF output to a DAC and see if works as a transport. My guess is that there is little difference between the DV7010 and the DV9600 as a transport, but who knows?
So your new CXC transport betters the transport in the Marantz DV7010 in the same system by a noticeable margin?
Sending the CXC back, maybe some dirt in the lens? Not acceptable. Mr. Marantz got a stay of execution.
What was the issue with the CXC?
Curious as main has performed well so far.
Yes the CXC. The DAC normally clicks once at the beginning of a CD.It started clicking erratically, at first I thought it was a problem with the DAC but once I connected the Marantz it was back to one click, disappointing.
Sorry, to hear. I have no such issues with mine through my D100.
CXC very much bettered the Marantz SA14 2LTD I was using as a transport into my Chord Qute. It surprised me.Very good sound for $500. It's 12 lbs so I use Herbies Supersonic thingies on the top cover. The MArantz was 30lbs.
The SA14 is a very nice machine as is the SA15 out now is the same processor but a few more in's like a USB port on the front. Same machine $500 more.I use a JuiceII PC from Wywires and a Wywires SPDIF Litespeed Cable to the CXC.

What do "Herbies Supersonic thingies on the top cover" do? I opened up the CXC it is pretty empty and bare.
Cuts out most of the cabinet vibrations.I have the whole cxc on herbies large tender feet.
Where do you have your DAC? I put mine on top of the CXC. I'm thinking of making a thin Sorbothane and copper sandwich for the top of the CXC. What cable/cord are you using and what length?
One meter Wywires Juice II PC, the DAC is right next to the CXC. I don't expect vibration to the DAC since it is a solid milled block of aluminum. The Chord is small so I could put it on top.I don't like stacking anything.
I've had a look at your system, nice. I see that you've isolated everything. I use Sorbothane and hardwood also 3" (glued) from Home Depot. Maple would be first prize, maybe when I fishing paying for my divorce.
I've read (it makes sense)that the digital co-axial should not be too short as its a 'tuned' cable.
How are the 8402's working - did you make them yourself?

Thanks for the comments. The "antique" wire is pretty remarkable considering the wires they replaced. Been at this a long time. Yes I made the 8402's exactly like recommended on "Jeff's Place" Switchcrafts and shields connected at both ends.
I have owned my CXC since July and it has performed great.Looking a the Woo Audio transport, however I am not sure if spending the extra bucks would give me a noticeable improvement in sound.
the Cyrus CDt looks nice as well, however the price is 3x the CXC.

I bought my DV7010 new, it has been marvelous. CD's I've listened to so far are DSOTM (1988 made in UK) - better all round. Holly Cole, Temptation - I use this album to evaluate sibilance, not sure about the voice yet. Beethoven Symphonies 1-9 von Karajan 1964 - WOW! much much better, the violins sound like violins and lots of space and very engaging. Electronic music downloads from Bandcamp - Kraut Sounds, Deep Sky - WOW! Detail, space, a whole new experience. Mississippi John Hurt, very nice (tested a copy of a CD). The CXC reads discs better. I tried the Buena Vista Social Club which skips on some tracks with the DV7010 but not the CXC (I recently had the album professionally refurbished). Maybe the DV7010 needs a new laser. I think the DAC also makes a big difference.
